Dream Girl 2 is the follow-up to the 2019 hit comedy directed by Raaj Shaandilyaa. This installment, featuring Ayushmann Khurrana in the lead, also includes Ananya Panday in the cast.
Ayushmann Khurrana’s highly anticipated film, Dream Girl 2, unveiled its trailer on Tuesday. Similar to its predecessor, the sequel is helmed by director Raaj Shaandilya. Joining the cast is Ananya Panday, who will be playing the female lead role.
The trailer for Dream Girl 2 showcases Ayushmann taking his Pooja persona to a whole new level. This time, he not only impersonates Pooja’s voice but also appears in her attire. Once again, he humorously teases and tricks numerous men. The trailer also features several seasoned comic actors like Rajpal Yadav, Annu Kapoor, Asrani, and Paresh Rawal. Annu Kapoor is even comically shown waxing Ayushmann’s chest. Additionally, Ananya is seen in a romantic relationship with Ayushmann’s male character in the trailer.

Ayushmann Khurrana takes on the role of Pooja once again in Dream Girl 2. In a previous film poster, he unveiled his glamorous female persona, showing him admiring his true self in the mirror while applying lipstick. Ayushmann shared the poster on Instagram, teasing that it’s just a glimpse, and objects in the mirror are more beautiful than they appear. The film is set to release on August 25, and the excitement is building up with one month to go.

Dream Girl 2 serves as the spiritual successor to the 2019 hit film, Dream Girl, where Ayushmann portrayed a call center employee adept at impersonating Pooja’s voice while talking to callers. The original movie also starred Nushrratt Bharuccha, Annu Kapoor, Manjot Singh, Vijay Raaz, and Abhishek Banerjee, and it turned out to be a blockbuster, earning a massive worldwide box office collection of ₹200 crore.
Dream Girl 2 was initially slated for a July release, but now it is scheduled to hit theatres on August 25. The reason for the delay, as revealed by the makers, is the extensive VFX work required to perfect Ayushmann Khurrana’s character as Pooja in the film.

Ektaa Kapoor, who is co-producing the movie, emphasized the significance of the VFX work for Ayushmann’s character transformation.
