Akshaya Tritiya 2024: 5 auspicious things to buy on this day that will never decrease in value

On the auspicious occasion of Akshaya Tritiya, individuals uphold the tradition of purchasing gold, silver, and other precious metals. As per Drik Panchang, this year’s Akshaya Tritiya falls on May 10th. The auspicious puja muhurat is scheduled from 5:33 AM to 12:18 PM on May 10th.

Why do people buy gold on Akshaya Tritiya?

Legend has it that on the sacred day of Akshaya Tritiya, Lord Kuber received blessings from Lord Shiva and Lord Brahma, entrusting him with the responsibility of safeguarding the wealth of heaven. Therefore, purchasing precious items like gold and silver in homage to Lord Kuber is believed to lead to their perpetual appreciation in value.

According to another narrative, on Akshaya Tritiya, Lord Krishna paid an unexpected visit to the Pandavas during their exile. When Draupadi, unable to prepare a lavish meal, humbly apologized, Lord Krishna blessed her. Taking a single grain of rice from the bowl of food, he bestowed upon the Pandavas the Akshaya Patra – the vessel of inexhaustible abundance. Consequently, it is customary for people to purchase gold, silver, and other metals on this day, as it is believed that their worth will perpetually appreciate. Anything acquired on Akshaya Tritiya is thought to bring lasting benefits and increase in value over time.
