On March 7, Kerala is set to launch India’s first government-owned OTT platform.
The OTT platform, named CSpace, will be launched by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan at Kairali Theatre. Kerala is set to make a mark in the digital entertainment arena with the debut of CSpace, India’s premier government-backed OTT platform.
According to an official statement released on Tuesday, the platform is scheduled to launch this Thursday and promises to offer a diverse range of informative and entertaining content tailored for a wide audience.
At 9:30 am on March 7, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan will inaugurate the OTT platform at Kairali Theatre. Cultural Affairs Minister Saji Cherian will preside over the event. Shaji N Karun, renowned film director and Chairman of the Kerala State Film Development Corporation (KSFDC), highlighted the significance of CSpace during a press conference, stating that it addresses the various challenges and imbalances in content selection and dissemination within the OTT sector.
About CSpace
KSFDC, a state-owned company dedicated to promoting Malayalam cinema and industry, oversees CSpace on behalf of the Department of Cultural Affairs, Government of Kerala. To ensure quality content, KSFDC has established a curator panel consisting of 60 members, including notable cultural figures such as Benyamin, OV Usha, Santhosh Sivan, Shyamaprasad, Sunny Joseph, and Jeo Baby. Each submission undergoes evaluation by three curators from the panel to assess its artistic, cultural, and infotainment value before being approved for the platform.
