Good news for H-1B visa applicants, the United States may conduct the second round of the lottery next week, providing more benefits to Indians.

Indians are the largest beneficiaries of the H-1B visa. Approximately 75 percent of all H-1B visa holders are from India. There is a possibility that 20,000 applicants will be selected through the lottery process.

Great news for H-1B visa applicants! Yes, the U.S. government is planning to conduct a second round of selections, providing another opportunity for applicants. The selection process will be conducted through a lottery system. The U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) has announced that applicants will be chosen from the initial electronic submissions through the lottery system. The lottery is expected to take place next week, and there is a possibility that 20,000 H-1B applicants will be selected through this process. It is believed that this will be particularly beneficial for people from India, as they are the largest group of beneficiaries of the H-1B visa.

The USCIS had conducted a camp for H-1B visa applications for the fiscal year 2024, encouraging people to submit electronic applications. In March, they selected applications that were submitted correctly. It’s important to note that only those applicants who were selected for the fiscal year 2024 are eligible to file an H-1B cap-subject petition.

Information will be provided after the selection.

The USCIS stated in a recent announcement that we have determined the need for additional registrations to reach the numerical allocations for the fiscal year 2024. Soon, we will use the lottery selection process to choose applicants. Once the selection process is completed, the chosen petitioners will be informed. An update will be issued for those with selected registrations, including details on when and where to file.

Indians are the largest beneficiaries of the H-1B visa program.

The United States issues 85,000 H-1B visas each year, out of which 20,000 visas are reserved for skilled workers with advanced degrees from American institutions, while the remaining 65,000 visas are allocated through a lottery system. These visas are intended for foreign students who have completed higher studies in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) subjects from American universities. According to the U.S. government, Indians are the largest beneficiaries of the H-1B visa program, accounting for approximately 75 percent of all visa holders.

What is an H-1B visa?

The H-1B visa is a non-immigrant visa that allows American companies to hire foreign professionals with specialized technical skills for specific positions. Through this visa, technology companies in the United States hire thousands of employees every year from countries like India and China.

Who is eligible to apply?

The H-1B visa is initially valid for three years and can be extended for up to six years with certain exceptions for individuals with specialized knowledge and technical expertise working in specific professions. Professionals in specialized fields with theoretical and technical expertise can apply for an H-1B visa. This visa is highly popular among Indian IT professionals.
