Box Office Earnings of OMG 2: Akshay Kumar’s movie, classified with an adult rating by the censor board, has amassed over ₹135 crore within a span of 17 days.

The adult certification appears to be no hindrance for “Oh My God 2” (OMG 2), as the movie starring Akshay Kumar maintains its strong performance in the national box office arena, accumulating ₹135.9 crore nett as reported by Sacnilk.com. According to figures gathered by Koimoi.com, OMG 2 has secured the position of the fourth highest-grossing adult-certified Bollywood film. It’s worth noting that the top-earning adult-rated film in Bollywood is the 2019 release “Kabir Singh.”

According to the source, Kabir Singh has garnered a lifetime box office collection of ₹278.2 crore nett within India. The movie featured Shahid Kapoor in conjunction with Kiara Advani. Following Kabir Singh, the second highest earning adult-rated Bollywood film is “The Kashmir Files,” released the previous year. Directed by Vivek Agnihotri, the movie stars Mithun Chakraborty, Anupam Kher, and Pallavi Joshi, and reportedly amassed ₹252.5 crore nett within India.

Recently, “The Kashmir Files” secured the Nargis Dutt Award for Best Feature Film on National Integration at the 69th National Film Awards. While the film achieved commercial success, it faced criticism from certain quarters for purportedly exacerbating communal sentiments.

Another mature-themed Hindi film that gained substantial box office success – raking in over ₹238 crore nett in India – yet faced backlash for reinforcing negative Muslim stereotypes, is “The Kerala Story.” Kerala’s chief minister, Pinarayi Vijayan, denounced the narrative as ‘false,’ especially after the filmmakers’ initial attempt to present it as based on the real experiences of three women from the southern state. These women were alleged to have been coerced into converting to Islam and subsequently trafficked to join the extremist group ISIS.

Wrapping up the top 5 with earnings of ₹102.5 crore is “Grand Masti.” This adult comedy from 2013, directed by Indra Kumar, serves as a sequel to the 2004 film “Masti.” The movie features Riteish Deshmukh, Vivek Oberoi, and Aftab Shivdasani reprising their roles from the original installment.

Regarding “OMG 2 “

“OMG 2” serves as a sequel to the 2012 movie “OMG – Oh My God,” starring Akshay Kumar and Paresh Rawal. Directed by Amit Rai, “OMG 2” features Pankaj Tripathi in the role of Kanti Sharan Mudgal, a devout follower of Lord Shiva who takes legal action against the educational system for misleading his child.

Akshay Kumar takes on the role of a divine messenger of Lord Shiva, while Yami Gautam portrays an attorney in the movie. The film also includes appearances by Arun Govil, Aamir Naik, Fahim Fazli, Vedika Nawani, and Parth Siddhpura, among others.

Concerning the adult certification of “OMG 2” In July, reports surfaced that the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) had implemented ‘preemptive measures’ to forestall any potential controversies arising from dialogues or scenes in “OMG 2.” Ultimately, the movie received an A certificate after weeks of speculation, despite the filmmakers’ initial intention for a UA certificate – one that is unrestricted but includes a parental discretion advisory for children below 12 years.

Earlier, there were reports indicating that the CBFC was exercising extra caution in reviewing “OMG 2,” likely due to the criticism that “Adipurush” had faced post-release regarding its dialogues, costumes, and visual effects. Akshay Kumar humorously commented on how “OMG 2” obtained an A certificate from the CBFC, jokingly suggesting that the film should be suitable for viewing in schools.
